Sponsor Medallion

Medallion doesn’t talk much, but when she answers a question in class she always knows the right answer. Medallion has consistently been one of the top three students in her year.

She is only six years old and in the second of the three years of nursery school. In early 2025, she will move to the “Top”, the last year of nursery.

She is quite shy, except with her two best  friends. Then she’s filled with laughter and giggles.

Her mother became pregnant at a young age but did not marry Medallion’s father. Instead, he married two other women. Plural marriage is a carryover from tribal times and somewhat less common today in younger couples. The practice also brings the need for more income and food to everyone in the family. Neither of the two wives wanted Medallion in their lives.

Medallion now lives with her very old grandmother who has no source of income. The father does what he can, but he just doesn’t make much money. He is a porter, carrying tourists’ cameras, food and water when they are trekking. (If you come to visit and to trek, remember to tip your porter well!) 

Medallion will flourish at BWS. She just needs a sponsor who will stick with her and send her some love.
